Claes Britton panels discussion on "communication design" at the Experimenta design biennale in Lisbon.

Claes Britton was invited to act as ”agent provocateur” at an open talks session on the theme of ”communication design” on the opening day of the Experimenta design biennale, held in beautiful Lisbon, Portugal, in mid September. The six-week biennale, which was staged for the fourth time, is evolving into one of Europe's leading design events, boasting a broad and diverse array of exhibitions, seminars, performances, workshops, dinners, cocktails, etcetera. The profile of the biennale can be described as on beeing the arty, intellectual, experimental side, contrasting sharply with commercial trade events such as the Milan fair. The opening week of the 05 biennale featured a number of star guests, including Philippe Starck, Marc Newson, Eduardo Souto Moura, John Thackara, Stefan Sagmeister and Renny Remakers. The woman behind the biennale is Guta Moura Guedes, whose female attributes were praised by Philippe Starck in a most memorable speech (see blog) and named as the main motivation for his participation in the event…
