Jennifer Blom’s funky bride at Berns

Jennifer Blom’s funky bride at Berns

That was some funky brides down at Berns

It was very pleasant indeed to see the final exam collections of the graduating fashion class from our beloved Beckmans College of Design presentad at a floor catwalk at the magnificent Berns art noveux palace earlier this week, in a setting with an audience that would pride most established fashion brands on these latitudes.

It was a generous gesture of my friends PG Nilsson and Pelle Lydmar, Berns and the Ekstranda finance company to provide the school and these aspiring young fashion talents with this proud stage. By no means was it too grand for that talent. As usual, there was plenty of ideas and artistery at flight. I particularly liked Nicole Janota’s gracious silhuettes, Alice Schulman’s colors, Lina Karlsson’s patterns and Jennifer Blom’s bold bridal outfits in beautifully falling satins from Dubai. Especially Janota and Blom showed qualities of femininity, extravagance and even sexiness which are still far too rare in Swedish fashion. Again: I´ve simply seen enough of all these inumberable toned-down, androgyneous and asexual street looks with a twist in various subdued greys and beiges. See all the collections on www.beckmans.se (this eminent website which, as you know, is of course produced by BrittonBritton and AGoodID).
